Curious about the idea of giving birth at home? With American homebirth statistics showing safe outcomes, positive short and long term benefits, few emergencies, and low rates of intervention, it is no wonder that homebirth has been on a rapid rise in the last few decades and marked a sharp spike in 2020. It was just three generations ago, birthing at home was the norm in the United States. It was the norm in Ohio. How has hospital birth become the norm and why is there a return to the birthing ways of our great-grandmothers? 

Right out of Licking County, present for this forum will be a certified midwife and a few mamas (some with their spouses) who have birthed at home, maybe just down the road from you. We encourage you to watch the film The Business of Being Born before attending.

We have created the following guidelines in an effort to protect you and your families, as well as to safely promote your freedom to get the support you need through classes and community.

We ask that you practice handwashing for at least 20 seconds upon arrival, and as frequently as needed during your stay, and upon departure. We know that this simple task will alleviate much risk to you.  We will also practice social distancing in seating.

As a collective, we ask that you respect our request to stay home if you or anyone in your home are sick, or have been sick within the last 14 days.

We care about your physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. It is with that in mind that we have chosen to begin meeting with precautions. The Licking County Doula Collective will abide by our authorities‘ requirements and so if anything changes, we will do our best to update you.  We are incredibly excited to meet with you and do so with anticipation.
