In China, it’s called yuè zǐ - the month sitting. In Latin America, it’s called la quarentena. In some places around the world, a road is well paved for a mother's body to recover and heal from birth and pregnancy, and to help the mother and baby slowly adjust, adapt and discover their new normal. Post birth, an 8-inch wound is left in the uterus from the placenta detachment and the female body undergoes the biggest hormonal change it will ever experience.
